MARIA LEBEDEVA is a freelance illustrator and designer living and working in Johannesburg, South Africa. Maria graduated from the University of Pretoria with an Information Design degree in 2008, and completed a masters degree in illustration at the University of Stellenbosch in 2013. She has taken part in a number of exhibitions in both Cape Town and Johannesburg, as well as working with illustration for both children’s and adult fiction. She aspires to focus solely on children’s book illustration, and imagines that this vocation will be coupled with much cake eating.
