Which technology to use, what are my needs?

If you are looking for the "wow that looks insane" or "that is the most gorgeous print I have ever seen" then you would wanting an Inkjet print. This is the cutting edge of printing technology when requiring absolute detail and smooth tonal gradations. Its also one of the only ways to print on fine papers hand made in mills in the heart of Switzerland by 300 year old men in lederhosen. The results are truly works of Art.

If on the other hand you require 500 flyers or 100 business cards or 30 invitations to your long lost realitves birthday party then you need a digital press. This is one of our newest additions, delivering superb quality on a range of substrates, double sided, CMYK, FAST!!! This is by far the most cost effective solution for your volume printing needs, the quality rivals the inkjet in detail, especially when printed on papers from Fedrigoni.

the inkjet

The inkjet was brought to market with the word Giclee, meaning to spray. This was however a proprietary term for a custom piece of technology, but it seems to have stuck in the general publics mind and while the printer was different the technology have just developed. Today we are fortunate in using state of art technology to bring images to life. With innovations such as Micro piezo TFP heads for precise drop placement and dot size control, 360 tiny nozzles per inch!, Ultrachrome HDR K3 inks with vivid magenta, orange and green, and a d-max of 2.6 on the correct media. Epson's commitment to developing ink technology means that as an artist you can now deliver an artwork on the finest papers that will last more than 120years. In bare-bulb conditions (without UV glass) ratings of 30-80 years can be achieved depending on paper.

While all this fanciness can be overwhelming when you simply want to print the odd poster for your room, it means that your poster will look insanely cool, and you will still have enough cash left to frequent your favorite fast food joint during those late night brain storming sessions.

the Hewlett Packard Indigo 5500 digital press

This printer is actually a press... which is actually a printer...which is... ehh. Thats the beauty of the beast, this machine is unique in that it can deliver single prints or thousands at a very affordable price, it can print business cards, if you just need 20, it can do that, it doesn't need a plate like traditional offset printing, and can achieve speeds of 136 sheets an minute.

So now what to do with these prints. Depending on your needs we can staple bind, ring bind, cut and score, laminate and corner business cards. This is all done in house by our super efficient staff.

If you need a hard cover book or a magazine type bind we can refer you to our binding partners. These guys are amazing, hand binding any special request, from leather covers to hessian cover, to the normal plastic.

A word of caution. Please don't place your designs too close to the edge of the paper, we do have to cut them and while we take every care to get the cut correct, we don't have fancy laser guided machines cutting each sheet.
